Being Trixie

Vet visits and shopping..

After Trixie's recent pyometra problem, we kinda wanted to get the other dogs out of the way. We set up a spay day for the other 2, and since Joe is newly employed, I got to take them out for the day.

The branch of our vet that does the work is in south south south jersey, pretty much Delaware. So It was an early morning...I was up and out by 7:30, dropping them off around 8:15. Since the vet is so far, it's silly to drive that hour down, drive the hour home, back down for pick up, and another hour driving home again... With gas so expensive, filling up my tank again for the 2nd time in 2 days just wasn't an option. And when my pick up time wasn't till 2:00... I had some time to kill.

So after dropping the dogs off, it was off the the mall.. :)

Normally this is a time to rejoice. HOLLA!! What's up 5 HOUR shopping spree?!?!

This was not my tone. After shelling out about $1,000 in the past week for my dogs health, I really can't be out shopping like a fool...Unless that is - If I shop on the cheap. :)

I think the only things I got for "expensive" was a dress from Urban Outfitters. But it's too big, and has a spot on it! :C What else did I buy???

This is SUCH a cute book. Kinda like wheres waldo, but with Japanese style bunnies.. and Hello.. I don't think it's lawful to get any cuter than that.

          Look at all those bunnies!!!!                       I totally think the pink hula bunny looks like me.

 

 

I saw these sitting on a shelf and thought.. I love notes..
I love erasable things..
I love anything in fun packaging..

I have been wanting both of these books for a while
I just couldn't bear spending almost $20 for each book.

 

Luckily as I was being nosy at them, I turned it over to see they were both $2.90!

You can't lose... $5.80 for both books. Awesome.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I took my first trip to lush today. All natural good for your body. I picked up a bath bar. If it works as well as it did in the store.. I'm very excited.

 

 

 

 

 

 

It all boiled up to being back at home with 2 very bummed out doggies.

How sad for them..

And how did I deal? With my computer, and A nice cup of iced tea.

What a week. - a Puppy PSA

I've been pretty much MIA on the internets and My blog as of late. Apologies all around... But here's why. And take notes!!!

Our little girl trixie came down with what we though was a little cold, or bacterial infection last week. She had runny eyes, and was acting a little sluggish. She wasn't eating her food much, and was all around a little bit of a sad sack. She went to the vet on wednesday to get checked out, and we got some meds for her to take to clear up the issue.

Fast foward to Sunday night. Nothing had gotten better, and things were only looking worse.. Trix had become pretty sluggish, sleeping most of the day, not moving too much. She was drinking regularly, but wouldnt even look at food when we tried to feed her. Laying around trembling, and her heavy breathing wasn't looking too promising in my eyes.

Joe got her an appointment for Monday afternoon. After some bloodwork and x-ray's, Trixie was digagnosed with Pyometra. What's that? Let me tell you...

After a dog's heat cycle, they can get an infected uterus. Puss beings to biuld up and if it can get out (thats an open pyometra) it will most likley slowly drain out of the dog slowly. But in Trixies case it was a closed pyometra, and the puss was just building up inside. This can be extremley dangerous, as the bacteria starts to flow inside of them.

After a trip to the vet today - extracting her internal lady parts - We have her back. Now it's just making sure we keep up on her recovery.

This is a note to everyone. Please, if you don't have any plans on breeding your dogs or cats, get them spayed. I wouldn't want anyone to deal with the same situation.. Or even worse.

Having fun on a snowy day.

 

Due to the snow attack we had yesterday (thanks for that BTW, I didnt need that birthday fun anyway) we were snowed in for the day. No work for me, and obviously Joe didn't have work... So we celebrated with food.  My favorite way. With food.


Hello Yummy Pancakes. I got this recipe from a favorite blog of mine How Sweet It Is. What makes the pancakes so good? Not just those party sprinkles... They're cake batter pancakes. Yummmm. And even better with some powder sugar on top.

Yeah. It's that good.

What snow day would be complete without a little romp in the snow with the girls?


The snow is like as high as they are. But they romp around like a champ. They have to get to their buddy vinny next door.


I got to romp around as well. In joe's jacket and my sweet moon boots. Word.

How my night goes...

I'm not an overly exciting person.... I'm not even a mildly exciting person. But sometimes I find myself having a funny night. And I just like to share.

This is me... Trying to get my pilates on at home, since the snow was getting in the way of me getting to yoga. Note the little dog laying on my face. Thats Trixie, and thats how she gives hugs. I was trying to do some legs lifts, but ended up laughing hysterically at her antics.

 

 

I made a dessert of some apples and caramel from Wawa. Descrumptious. :)

 

Of course getting to share with the girls is a treat as well.. Untill Trixie gets evil, and it all goes south.

Wednesday Why I love... Puppies.

                             I think this plainly speaks for itself. But If I have to explain... I will.

Now I say puppies, but for Joe and I 'puppies' is a general word for any dogs we may encounter.

I've gown up with dogs all my life. They've been a staple in my household ever since I could remember... And after Joe and I got a house, he was also excited to embark on the journey of dog-ownership.(Joe's mom dislikes dogs, or any animal for that matter, so he wasn't allowed to have anything growing up)

Cute huh? Imagine how long he wanted this for...

 

I treat my 3 furkids as if I had birthed them on my own. Gross? Maybe. But don't tease my kids, don't treat them wrong, and don't tell them to get off the couch. It's their seat. not yours..

They live a better life I think I may have when I was a child. They have heated beds, and organic yummy dog foods... Along with treats from mom and dad..

I think I fell more in love with my animals when Gidget suffered a spinal stroke (FCE) over the fall. She lost the use of her back legs, and we had to learn to take care of them (mainly her) all over again. She can walk now, But we still have to manually make her go pee pee, and we have to help her make poo. But, I wouldnt have her any other way. After it had happened many people I work with were amazed at the money spent on our pets, and hearing countless times..'just put her down'... I doubt any one of them would second guess the money they would spend for thier child.

I dunno, if you ask me there isn't a price I could put on any one of these faces.. They're my babies, they're my friends...

and thats why ... I love puppies.

Summer fun.. In the Fall

We had a fun weekend. we took the kids to Avalon to hang at the beach and play at Johns family's beach house. It was quite an experience. Leela broke off of her leash and made of for about 10 minutes going in crazy circles in the sand..I learned Trixie was more adventurous that Gidget. It was some fun.. we had a pretty good time. Its getting cool out. which I love more than life itself. I love the fall. Its a little hint that things like.. Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are coming soon. I bought cool little waxes from Yankee candle co.

I got them in an array of Fall Smells, like this one here autumn leaves, Iced Pumpkin, and more. But let me tell you i cut it in two and burn half in the kitchen  ad half in the living room. Its like yummy-ness all over my house. Click on the wax thing, buy some for yourself. Turn your home into a fall,pumpkin,thanksgiving smelling house.

Anyway. Thats about that. I have some more fun stuff to talk about. but I'm tired.. :P

Weekend Excitment

I had a good weekend I think. I went to the gym Friday and learned some new moves. I like to do my cardio and look over the people of the gym and be nosy. I was doing this Friday afternoon, and leaned a couple new workouts. Some good squat moves, that are surprisingly easy on my knees.
I also had a crazy hap'nin at the house. I go home friday and as usual let the kids outside. we're playing and having fun, when there he appears. Monty. Monthy is a boy dog that has recently noticed I have some hot bitches playing in my yard.He now comes by to harrass them, and jump into my yard to get a closer look. He's Vicious and mean and we dont like monty. So backing up. I take the girls out for our afternoon play time, and monty shows up. Im trying to contain the girls from barking and freaking out, and Monty is trying to jump my fance to get in with the dogs. I'm also freaking out becuase if he gets in. My girls have a very high chance of being bitten, eaten, etc my this mean little guy, and that means I have to jump in to fight as well. I don't WANT to get bit by a dog, but should it happen. I wouldnt mind a little pile of monies for my hardships. anywho. I finally get the girls contained inside, and let monty in. *CHA CHING!! HE'S CAUGHT, NOW I CAN CALL PUPPY COPS ON HIM* So I call joe to call the animal control and the cops for me. i then get a call from animal control telling me he cant come till the morning. and that I should keep him in my yard.
"But He can jump the fance he'll jump back out."
"Then what seems to be the problem?"
"If I let him out he'll jump back in and attack me or my dogs"
"you can't hold him till tomorrow?"
"...He can jump.. the fence."
"well can't you get him into a cage?"
"If i attenpt that, there is a good chance i'll get bitten, and I really don't want that to happen, can't you just come out here and help me out so my dogs or myself don't get hurt?"
"I can't come out today unless there is an emergency, If you or an animal is bitten."
"well, if you don't come out, there is a chance one of us will... so you can't help us out?
"No sorry, you can't contain him?"
"Nevermind."
*CLICK*
The cops at this point come to my house and they see the dog, and the owner is on his way down to my house (the only thing the animal control did right) We all stand there, they apologize, and i give him a fuck you glance. and look back to the cop. All in all the dog went home, and we get to start filing a complaint every time he comes over. which is only everyday. Lucky us.

I woke up early on Saturday to go yardsale-ing. Heather didnt want to get up, so i packed up leela and we went out on our own. We found nothing. We did however have a good time at the pitman little town festival. Leela decided its a good idea to poo in the middle of the street. Mommy did not find this as amusing. so we high tailed out of there so people didn't point and talk. I was a good girl though, and went home to play with the kids, and even made it to the gym.
I hope I have better luck this week.. :/

I got thru it!!

So yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of having taty put down. :c I did really well and didn't even cry!!
I almost had an episode when we took leela birthday shopping and i saw all of the pet memorial things witht he sad little poems on them..

(Inside story for those who don't know - I had Taty for like 8 or 9 years, she was my child. she moved all over with me, and it was always just me and her. she was smart and she understood me. (I cried she sat and was sad with me) she got lymes disease last year and never showed any of the symptoms, by the time she was showing signs, and we took her in to the vet - it was too late, and it had gotten to her nervous system AND her kidneys. She went into renal failure and got bad in a matter of 3 days. (no lies. she looked good when i took her in, and 4 days after she was admitted, it was just to sad to bear) I didn't want to keep her on meds or anything like that, and she was just so far off and not taty anymore, joe and I made the decision to have her put down, so she wouldnt have to suffer. - After that whole ordeal (SAD DAY :C) I decided I didn't want anymore dogs, and we would just have trixie & gidget. Then about a week later. I was sad and needed something of my own to love. So I got leela. and to make it special, i found a chihuahua (what i wanted) that was born on the date we had taty put to sleep. It took some time, but i got my little girl. And amazingly enough, she is very much like taty. and i think they're friends. because she barks alot at nothing, and will dissapear to the bedroom for long periods of time for no apparent reason. It's cute :) and she makes me think taty is still here with me even though she isnt :c )
